Winter
The days are shorter, cold weather sets in, and the last yellow leaves fall to the ground uncovering the aesthetic simplicity of the area. Don\u2019t get fooled by the\u00a0 close proximity from the sea. Winters can be heavy here and Pelion is ready to welcome them.<\/h3>\n

Snowfalls cover the peaks of the mountain very often and everything is cotton-white above 500m. Mountain trails close, although the central main road is always open and snow machines work extra hard to keep the main route accessible. Roads are slippery, though especially when wet, and when thick fog falls, it makes driving a bit difficult. In these cases drivers need to be extra careful use of wheel – chains is recommended. Nevertheless,\u00a0weather conditions<\/a>\u00a0vary according the altitude.<\/h3>\n

The ski center at Chania, together with other various winter activities, are in their glory. How often can you ski down a mountain slope having as a view the endless blue waters of the Aegean Sea?
